On Friday, Altaf Memorial Govt Degree College (AMGDC), Kilam, organized a one-day legal literacy programme. The event was conducted by the “Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)” along with the Debates and Seminar Committee in collaboration with the School of Law, University of Kashmir.
According to the statement from college, the programme saw participation from teaching and non-teaching faculty as well as a large number of students.
They said that the objective was to raise awareness about various legal issues that people face in their daily lives.
Prof. Shabir Ahmad Padder, Principal of the college, welcomed the guests from the University of Kashmir.
He said that their is an importance of such literacy programmes, and said, “It is high time now that people must know their rights as well as duties to make a healthy state.”
The statement further reads that the speakers from the University of Kashmir addressed various aspects of the legal system, including the NTPS Act, Lok Adalat, Child Labour Prohibition Regulation Act, Right to Education, Right to a Clean and Healthy Environment, Medical Negligence, Legal Aspects of Cyber Crime, Acid Attack Legislation, and other related issues.
