Kulgam, June 29: A newly macadamised road in Chowgam Devser in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district was damaged on Friday after PDD department dug it to lay of poles.
Locals informed that the Chowgam Bonigam road have been macdamised last year, however, the Contractor of Power Development department began excavating it to lay poles, which caused harm to the road at several points.
The locals, exhibiting their dissatisfaction, said that the task of laying poles should have been accomplished before macadamisation of the road. People demanding strict action against Contractor
Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE).PMGSY Kulgam Manzoor Ahmad Dar told that the work of installing poles by the PDD department was executed without their approval and they have not communicated.
“The work was done in the dark of night with the help of a JCB machine and without obtaining our permission. I have written to the department that this was not the proper way,” he said that strict action will be taken against Contractor.,
Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) PDD Qazigund, Mohammad Yousuf Mir told that the work comes under the domain of Chowgam Pandith colony which is an important project for the welfare of the people but it should have not damaged another development.
“We have dug along the berm of the road which is meant for iron poles. Even if the macadam is damaged at any place, we will repair it”, he added.
