Qazigund, Sep 1: As part of its sustained drive against drug menace, Kulgam Police arrested two drug peddlers in Qazigund and seized contraband from their possession.
Acting on specific inputs, a police party from Police Station Qazigund established a naka at Sesman Damjan. During checking, two persons moving suspiciously were intercepted, and on search, 3.289 kg of poppy straw–like contraband was recovered from their possession.
The arrested persons have been identified as Nisar Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Rehman Dar, resident of Sesman Bonigam, and Anayat Bashir, son of Bashir Ahmad Ganie, resident of Nassu Badragund. They were taken into custody on the spot. A case FIR No. 175/2025 under sections 8/15, 29 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Qazigund, and further investigation has been initiated.
Kulgam Police reiterates its unwavering resolve to eradicate the scourge of drugs from society. Those indulging in this illicit trade are warned that the law will inevitably catch up with them, and strict action will be taken to ensure justice.
