Qazigund: As part of the ongoing 100-day Nasha Mukta Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), the College Well-Being & Anti-Substance Abuse Cell of Government Degree College Qazigund organised a friendly Kabaddi match to spread awareness against drug abuse among students.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and sports persons, with anti-drug slogans echoing across the ground. A pledge against substance abuse was also administered to both staff and students on the occasion.

Principal Prof. Sudhir Singh, addressing the gathering, expressed concern over youth involvement in drug networks and highlighted the role of sports in prevention, stating that positive peer influence through games can help curb experimentation with drugs.

The programme was introduced by Dr. Ishtiyaq Ahmed Shah, Convener Sports, who stressed that engaging youth in sports activities is one of the most effective ways to address social challenges like addiction.

Two teams comprising college students participated in the match, with Dr. Basharat acting as commentator and Rihan Nazir along with Rizwan Ahmad officiating as umpires. The event was organised by Dr. Javed Ahmad Itoo (PTI).

The initiative forms part of broader efforts under NMBA to promote awareness, discipline, and healthy lifestyle choices among youth through sports activities
