Kulgam, Sep 16: A 19-year-old labourer from Handwara died after suffering an electric shock while working on smart meter installation in Yaripora area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday.
An official told said that the deceased, has been identified as Sadiq Ahmad Badana, son of Bashir Ahmad Badana of Molabal, Handwara.
He was employed with a private company, engaged in fixing smart meters in Kulgam. During the course of work, he came in contact with a live wire and sustained a fatal shock.
He was initially shifted to Government Medical College Anantnag and later referred to SKIMS Soura. Doctors at SKIMS declared him brought dead upon arrival.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and further investigation initiated. (KNC)
