Will act tough against persons involved in illegal mining and nobody will be spared for such doings, says DMO Kulgam; Urges people in requirement of construction material & minor miners to procure the same from legal sources only

Kulgam, Dec 14: Four JCB machines and three sieve tractors involved in illegal mining at Khoripora Qaimoh area of Kulgam were seized by Geology and Mining Department Kulgam last night.
An official told that on the directions of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat a team of mining department led by District Mineral Officer (DMO) Kulgam Murtaza Bashir and Tehsildar Kulgam Bilal Ahmad carried out the operation on Vaisho nallah at Thokerpora Qaimoh in Kulgam last night and seized four JCB’s and three sieve tractors for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
Meanwhile, District Mineral Officer (DMO) Kulgam Murtaza Bashir said that “He would act tough against persons involved in illegal mining and nobody will be spared for such doings”, adding that all the vehicles after seizure were handed over to police and shall remain in their custody till realization of penalty.
“We are having twenty minor mineral blocks operative in the district, those people involved to stop this illegal practice and urged people & stakeholders in requirement of construction material & minor miners to procure the same from legal sources only as illegal mining is threat to existence as its carried out of greed and self interest by violating all scientic norms and won’t be tolerated at any cost”, he said.
