Jammu, Mar 03: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday reiterated the government’s commitment to restoring Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, assuring that the administration remains dedicated to addressing the aspirations of the people.

He made these remarks while addressing the first day of the Budget Session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.

“As a government, we are fully committed to restoring Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood. We will continue to engage with all stakeholders to achieve this goal,” Sinha said, as per news agency JKNS.

He also reaffirmed the government’s resolve to facilitate the return of Kashmiri Pandits, stating, “The administration is making every effort to ensure a safe and secure environment for their return.”

The LG further assured that Panchayat and Urban Local Body elections will be held on time to strengthen grassroots democracy. “We are committed to conducting these elections in a timely manner to empower local governance,” he said.

Sinha’s remarks come at a time of heightened political activity, with opposition parties gearing up to challenge the government on multiple issues during the session.

“The administration is working towards political and economic stability in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said, emphasizing ongoing development initiatives.

The Budget Session, which commenced today, is expected to witness intense debates, with opposition parties, including the BJP, PDP, and People’s Conference, raising issues such as the abrogation of Article 370 and the ongoing reservation controversy. The PDP has also submitted several bills, including those related to a liquor ban and the regularization of daily wagers. (JKNS)
