
Kulgam: In continuation of its relentless drive against the menace of drugs, Kulgam Police have arrested a drug peddler near Wanpoh and recovered a substantial quantity of contraband substance from his possession.
A dedicated police team from Police Station Qaimoh, while conducting routine naka checking, intercepted an auto-rickshaw bearing registration number JK18D-9586. During the search, officers recovered 2.5 kilograms of poppy straw-like contraband substance concealed in a bag.
The accused has been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Baba, son of Ghulam Qadar Baba, resident of Ghat Redwani Payeen. Following the recovery, a case under FIR No. 72/2025 has been registered at Police Station Qaimoh under the relevant sections of law. Further investigation is underway to ascertain his network and identify other individuals possibly involved in the illicit trade.
Kulgam Police has once again urged community members to remain vigilant and to extend their cooperation by sharing any information about drug peddlers or trafficking activities in their localities. Police assured that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
