Says feed best for sheep and cow; hold significant commercial potential for the farming community; Asked other farmers to avail the benefit of the newly ‘Kashvet feed’
Kulgam, Jan 3: In order to meet the nutritional needs of livestock of the kashmir region, scientists from the Division of Animal Nutrition, SKUAST-K have recently introduced a research-based animal feed for the sheep and cow.
Under the banner of Kashvet Innovation Pvt Ltd, SKUAST-K various products, including Kashvet sheep feed, Kashmim-S, Kashmin-Plus, Dairyboost, and Sheepboost. These products, include Adult sheep concentrate feed, Creep feed, Kashmir specific mineral mixture for sheep and cow, Mineral cakes and mineral blocks developed through research-based initiatives, hold significant commercial potential for the farming community.
A group of farmers shared their insights about the newly research-based animal feed ( Kashvet) for the sheep and cow in the region.
Rashid Yaqoob, a sheep breeder said that the newly Kashvet feed is best for sheep and cows as he has used this feed at his sheep unit from last one month, adding that the dosage should be given to sheep as recommended by the company and in consultation with the veterinarian.
Another breeder, Adil Rasool, who also using the same feed at his sheep unit shared his insights of the newly Kashvet feed said that it’s the best product for sheep as its increases Average Daily Gain (ADG), booster immunity, improve reproduction, and contribute holistically to the well-being of the animals.
Starting with 100 sheep, Adil now owns over 150 sheep and earns well enough for his family. “The department (Sheep Husbandry Department) has provided me with every support whenever needed”, he said, adding that he is happy about taking up this opportunity. while thanking the government, and the sheep husbandry department for the timely assistance provided to him.
He urged youth not to go after govt jobs only and create your business units and also take full benefits of government run schemes and earn your livelihood by which they will get rid from depression, anxiety and frustration.
Meanwhile,Sheep Husbandry Officer Block Devsar, Dr. Mudasir shared insights emphasizing that Kashvet feeds has become the preferred and most popular brand of feed and feed supplements among farmers.
He also highlighted a staggering tenfold demand exceeding current production levels, adding that This feed has been formulated keeping in mind the specific needs of sheep and cattle of different age groups. This will encourage milk and meat production, and improve the profits from animal rearing.
