Kulgam, Jan 03: In a tragic incident on Wednesday night, a residential house and a significant portion of the two-story Jamia Masjid were severely damaged in a fire mishap in the Gandbal Frisal area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
According to sources, the fire originated in the joint partitioned residential house of Jahangir Ahmed Pala and Ab Majeed Pala, both sons of Ab Aziz Pala and residents of Gandbal. The blaze quickly engulfed the house, resulting in complete destruction.
The intensity of the flames also affected the Jamia Masjid, causing extensive damage to its rooftop. Prompt intervention by the police, fire tenders, and locals helped bring the fire under control.
Authorities are currently working to ascertain the cause of the fire. The incident highlights the urgency of implementing preventive measures to safeguard structures and places of worship from such unforeseen disasters. The affected families and the community are now left to grapple with the aftermath of this unfortunate event.
