
Kulgam, October 18: In a proactive move to ensure public safety and maintain smooth traffic flow, Kulgam Police, under the leadership of ASP NHW Mumtaz Ali Bhatti and SDPO Qazigund Mansoor Ayaz, carried out a surprise checking-cum-restoration drive along the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway at Qazigund in Kulgam.
The operation was conducted under the close supervision of SSP Kulgam, Anayat Ali Choudhary (IPS) and aimed at regulating vehicular movement, checking for traffic violations, and addressing any road obstructions that could hinder the safe passage of commuters.
“Such drives are part of the ongoing efforts by the Kulgam Police to enhance highway safety, enforce traffic discipline, and ensure the well-being of the citizens”, an official told.
The Jammu–Srinagar National Highway, known as the lifeline of the Kashmir Valley, often witnesses heavy traffic congestion, especially near entry points like Qazigund. By conducting sudden enforcement drives, the police aim to
regulating vehicular movement without any disruption.
Local residents and commuters appreciated the presence of law enforcement on the highway. Several drivers said that visible police activity led to immediate improvements in traffic flow and compliance.
