Kulgam, Dec 16: District police kulgam is making every effort to hunt down the drug peddlers in the district and to put them behind the bars.
In this regard, Police party headed by IC PP Mirbazar established a special Naka at Mirbazar Chowkand during checking one suspicious person whose identity has been ascertained as; Amir Ahmad Shaikh son of Manzoor Ahmaf Shaikh a resident of Churat, Qazigund carrying a nylon bag was intercepted . After checking officers present were able to recover 1.8Kg of Poppy Straw like contraband substance filled in the said bag. The said person was arrested on spot.
In an another incident, police party headed by SHO Police station Qaimoh established a Naka at Railway crossing Harnag and intercepted one suspicious person identified as; Zahoor Ahmad Khan S/O Surab Khan R/O Mudhanpor Khandria, Delhi. After checking, officers present were able to recover 140 gram of Cannabis like contraband substance. He was arrested on spot.
Regarding the incidents, Case with FIR No.266/2023 U/S 8/15 of NDPS Act and Case with FIR No. 81/2023 U/S 8/20 of NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Qazigund and Police station Qaimoh respectively and investigation is in progress in both the cases.
