Kund (Kulgam) Sep 30: In an effort to bridge the gap between police and the public, a Police Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meeting was organized at Kanchloo area of Kund belt in Kulgam district.

The meeting was chaired by SSP Kulgam Shri Sahil Sarangal-IPS, who was accompanied by Addl. SP NHW Qazigund Shri Mumtaz Ali Bhatti-JKPS, SDPO Qazigund, and SHO Police Station Kund. The event witnessed the active participation of representatives, elders, and other respectable citizens from Kanchloo and neighboring villages, who raised various community-centric issues and shared their suggestions for improving public safety and welfare.

During the interaction, the participants highlighted several concerns of public importance, including road safety, developmental needs, and preventive measures against the growing drug menace. SSP Kulgam gave a patient hearing to all the grievances and assured the participants that genuine concerns would be addressed on priority, while other issues would be taken up with the concerned departments for prompt resolution.

In his address, SSP Kulgam emphasized the significance of community policing as a collective responsibility. He appealed to parents, teachers, civil society members, and local influencers to play a proactive role in guiding youth and discouraging teenagers from driving two- and four-wheelers, in order to prevent road accidents and safeguard lives. He further underlined the importance of social awareness campaigns to keep the younger generation away from drugs and other anti-social activities.

SSP Kulgam also sought the cooperation of locals in maintaining law and order, ensuring traffic discipline, curbing the drug menace, and identifying anti-national or anti-social elements who attempt to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere of the area. He reiterated that policing can be most effective when the community and police work hand-in-hand in a spirit of trust and cooperation.

The participants expressed their appreciation for the initiative of Kulgam Police and thanked SSP Kulgam for personally visiting the area, listening to their concerns, and building a strong bridge of trust between the police and the public. They also requested that such interactive meetings be held regularly in the future to ensure continuous engagement and problem-solving at the grassroots level.

SSP Kulgam said, “Kulgam Police is committed to serve the people with dedication and sincerity. Our priority is to ensure peace, security, and a drug-free environment for our youth. Together, with the support of the community, we can overcome every challenge and build a safer and stronger society.”
