Kulgam, Dec 31 : District Police Kulgam on Wednesday released its year-end performance report for 2025, showcasing significant achievements in crime control, anti-narcotics operations, cyber crime intervention and community policing.
As per news agency During 2025, District Police Kulgam implemented sustained and result-oriented strategies to curb crime, enhance public safety, and strengthen community trust through effective and citizen-centric policing. Key achievements for the year are summarized below:
Action against drug abuse (NDPS cases), In 2025, Kulgam Police intensified its anti-narcotics campaign under a zero-tolerance policy toward drug trafficking and abuse. A total of 87 FIRs were registered under the NDPS Act against 111 accused persons, leading to the recovery of contraband worth several crores. Notably, two cases resulted in convictions, with the offenders sentenced to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment and life imprisonment respectively. Alongside law enforcement, preventive and awareness measures were also undertaken to promote a drug-free society.
Attachment of properties of drug peddlers, To dismantle the financial networks of drug traffickers, seven residential houses valued at approximately ₹4.32 crore were attached under the NDPS Act after due legal process. This action aimed to deprive criminals of illicit gains and deter similar offences, it reads.
Action under UAPA, One property, a motorcycle (JK03M-4554), was attached under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) following due legal procedure. The move targeted the logistical support and mobility of individuals involved in unlawful activities, reaffirming Kulgam Police’s zero-tolerance policy toward anti-national elements.
Statement reads that, Action against absconders and trial in absentia, Special drives were conducted to trace absconding accused involved in serious crimes. Legal proceedings were initiated against proclaimed offenders, including attachment of their assets. In line with new legal provisions, trial in absentia was facilitated through timely investigations and charge-sheet submissions, ensuring no offender evades justice.
Crackdown on illegal mining, Kulgam Police registered 167 FIRs against 229 individuals for illegal mining and transportation of minor minerals. 235 vehicles, including dumpers and tractors, were seized. These actions, conducted with the District Administration and Mining Department, helped curb environmental damage and uphold the rule of law.
Cyber crime prevention and financial recovery, Through the Cyber Police Station Kulgam, 762 complaints were received via the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. Swift intervention and inter-agency coordination enabled the recovery of ₹79,60,258.98, returned to victims of cyber fraud. These measures highlight the police’s commitment to technology-driven and victim-centric policing, it reads.
Civic Action Programme (CAP), An amount of ₹10,94,500 was utilized for 14 community-oriented and sports-based activities under CAP. These initiatives promoted youth engagement, physical fitness, and anti-drug awareness, fostering stronger police public relations, it reads.
Mobile phone blocking and recovery, During the year, 97 mobile phones reported lost, stolen, or misused were blocked, and 41 devices were successfully traced and returned to their owners through technical and field investigations.
The Senior Superintendent of Police, Kulgam, Shri Anayat Ali Chowdhary (IPS), urged citizens to remain vigilant and share timely information on anti-social or anti-national activities. He reaffirmed the commitment of Kulgam Police to uphold public safety, strengthen community trust, and maintain excellence in policing through innovation and professionalism, reads the statement.
