Asian Nama is an independent, multilingual, multimedia news organization based in India, rooted in grassroots reporting and driven by the mission to amplify unheard voices. Founded in July 2024 by Ehsaan Yousf in the remote Chenab Valley region of Jammu and Kashmir, the platform emerged in response to a glaring lack of representation, underreporting, and cultural erasure in mainstream media.
Originally started as a solo initiative to bring attention to the issues ignored by national outlets—such as lack of infrastructure, linguistic endangerment, and developmental neglect—Asian Nama has grown into a community-powered alternative media outlet that now reports on local, national, and international affairs with a strong commitment to ethical journalism and cultural preservation.
Our Mission
Highlighting grassroots issues—from road connectivity and education to environmental concerns and basic amenities.
Preserving regional languages through our groundbreaking Multilingual News Initiative which publishes stories in endangered languages like Bhaderwahi, Sarazi, Gojri, and Kashmiri.
We believe in journalism as a tool for social justice, truth-telling, and advocacy, without compromising journalistic ethics.
