
Baramulla, Aug 8: The Baramulla-Uri National Highway will remain temporarily closed at Danakha Mode, Design Chainage 65+600, on August 9 to facilitate hill-cutting work and prevent any risk to public safety, officials said.
As per an order issued by the District Magistrate Baramulla, a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS stated that, the road will remain closed to vehicular traffic from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Sunday.
The order stated that hill-cutting work is scheduled to be carried out at the location, where there are apprehensions of landslides. The authorities also noted that minor landslide incidents have been reported on the stretch in the recent past.
The temporary closure has been imposed to avert any potential loss of life or property during the execution of the work.
Commuters and motorists have been advised to plan their travel accordingly and follow traffic advisories issued by the authorities. (JKNS)
