Kulgam, Jan 26 : The 76th Republic day celebration was celebrated in across Kulgam district with highest fervor and gaiety wherein tricolor was unfurled at each Police Station/Police establishment and other Govt offices. The main function in this behalf was held at District Police Lines (DPL) Kulgam in which DDC Chairperson Kulgam Mohd Afzal Parray (chief guest) alongwith SSP Kulgam Sahil Sarangal unfurled the national flag, inspected the Parade and took salute from the Parade.
The Parade was commanded by DySP PC Manzgam, Shri Rohit Gupta-JKPS consisting the contingents of CRPF, J&K Police, J&K Armed Police, J&K Lady Police, J&K Home guard, NCC cadets and students of various schools of the district Kulgam.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Amir Khan (IAS), DDC Vice Chairperson, DDC members, ADDC, ACR, ASP Kulgam, ASP NH, DySP DAR Kulgam, DySP HQR, SDPO Qazigund and other senior officers/officials of civil administration, Police, CRPF were present on the occasion.
In his address to the gathering, the DDC Chairperson extended his Republic Day greetings to the people and expressed his gratitude to the visionary leaders instrumental in shaping our constitution and the brave freedom fighters and martyrs who sacrificed everything to uphold the nation’s freedom and democracy.
The Chairperson highlighted the district’s remarkable achievements across key sectors of development including education, healthcare, agriculture, women and youth empowerment, JJM, rural development, road connectivity, Social Welfare, and self-employment during his speech.
Besides, scintillating colorful cultural programmes featuring patriotic and cultural themes were presented by cultural clubs, artists, and students of various schools including bangra dance performed by the contingent of CRPF 18Bn.
The ceremony concluded with prize distribution for march past and cultural practices. Officers/officials from various departments were also felicitated for exemplary public service.
Large number of people witnessed the function. Keeping in view the present security scenario, elaborate security arrangements were made by the District Police Kulgam alongwith other security forces.
