Kulgam, May 18: Residents and commuters in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district have voiced serious concern over the delay in completion of the Brazloo Bridge project, saying the missed deadline has badly affected daily movement and caused immense inconvenience to the public.

Locals alleged that despite repeated assurances, the authorities failed to complete the bridge within the promised timeframe, leading to massive traffic congestion and frequent jams on the existing bridge.

“We are suffering due to the careless approach of the authorities. Frequent traffic jams and congestion on the existing bridge are making daily travel a nightmare,” commuters told KNC.

Residents said the traffic situation becomes worse during peak hours as hundreds of vehicles remain stranded for long durations. They added that emergency services are also facing difficulties because of the heavy rush.

“At times, ambulances and people facing medical emergencies remain stuck in traffic due to severe congestion on the existing bridge,” a commuter said.

Another resident said commuters are often forced to wait for hours because of the slow pace of construction work on the bridge project.

The aggrieved commuters appealed to the administration, particularly the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, to speed up the construction process and ensure timely completion of the bridge without further delay.

“We appeal to the authorities, especially the DC Kulgam, to complete the project at the earliest so that people can finally get relief from daily traffic chaos,” the commuter added. (KNC)
