Condemnation of Militant Attack in Pahalgam

Statement by Adv. Zaman Irshad, General Secretary, JD(U), JK UT Party

The Janta Dal (United) JK UT General Secretary Adv Zaman Irshad strongly condemns the heinous militant attack in the Baisran area of Pahalgam, Anantnag district, on April 22, 2025, which targeted innocent tourists and left several injured. This cowardly act of violence is a direct assault on the peace, harmony, and economic progress of Jammu and Kashmir.

Kashmir and its people, particularly the Muslim community, have always welcomed tourists with open hearts, ensuring their safety and comfort. Time and again, Kashmiris have gone above and beyond, providing food, shelter, and care to visitors in times of need. The safety of our guests is not just a priority but a sacred duty rooted in the teachings of Islam, which emphasize the protection and hospitality of guests as a fundamental virtue.

This deplorable incident is the work of anti-state elements and puppets of our adversarial neighbor, orchestrated to sabotage the economy of Kashmir, tarnish the image of Kashmiri Muslims, and bring disrepute to our faith on national and international platforms. These acts are designed to sow discord and undermine the changing scenario in Kashmir, where peace and progress are steadily taking root.

We appeal to all media outlets to report this incident with utmost responsibility. This attack must not be portrayed as an act of Kashmiri Muslims or a reflection of hatred from Kashmir. It is, in truth, a desperate act of frustration by anti-state actors who are rattled by the region’s growing stability and prosperity. Let the narrative reflect the reality: Kashmir remains a land of warmth, hospitality, and unity.

We stand in solidarity with the victims and their families, and we assure the people of India and the world that Kashmir will continue to be a safe haven for tourists. The JK UT Party calls for swift action by security forces to bring the perpetrators to justice and urges all stakeholders to work together to preserve the sanctity of Kashmir as a beacon of peace and hospitality.
