Kulgam June 5: In a significant blow to local agriculture, the Irrigation Department has failed to deliver essential water supplies needed for the current planting of paddy saplings. This shortfall has created a crisis for farmers of Nowpora and Kilam of Devsar Kulgam, who rely heavily on timely irrigation to ensure the success of their crops.
Farmers in several key rice-growing regions of Devsar Kulgam have reported that water, which is vital for the initial stages of paddy cultivation, has been either severely limited to irrigate the farmland. The situation is particularly dire given the critical nature of this planting period for paddy saplings, which requires consistent and adequate water levels.
“The lack of water is devastating,” said Suhail Ahmad , a farmer in the affected region of Nowpora Devsar. “This is the time we need water the most, and without it, our saplings are dying. Our entire season’s work and income are at risk.”
The department’s inability to act has left us in a desperate situation. Immediate government intervention is needed to prevent a full-scale agricultural disaster.” He added
After Contacting the irrigation Department, AEE Irrigation Zameer Raina, He said ” I will adress this issue with my ground staff and restore normalcy as quickly as possible,”
