Qazigund (Kulgam), March 10: In a proactive step to promote road safety and curb traffic violations, Kulgam Police on Tuesday launched a special enforcement drive in the Qazigund area of Kulgam district targeting underage driving and rash bike riding.
The drive was conducted under the leadership of SSP Kulgam Anayat Ali Choudhary (IPS) On-ground operations were carried out by the SHO Qazigund under the supervision of Addl. SP (Highway) Mumtaz Ali Bhatii and SDPO Qazigund Mansoor Ayaz.
During the day-long operation, police established multiple checkpoints across the Qazigund belt and carried out strict enforcement against violators. Several motorists were seized and multiple challans were issued for various traffic violations.
Police officials also counseled minors found riding motorcycles illegally, sensitizing them about the serious dangers and legal consequences of underage and reckless driving, which often leads to road accidents and loss of lives.
Meanwhile, police appealed to parents and guardians to ensure that minors are not allowed to drive vehicles, warning that such violations may invite legal action and serious consequences.
The initiative was widely appreciated by local residents, who welcomed the proactive efforts of the police in promoting road discipline and ensuring public safety in the area.
