Says small amusement park, water sports already available, more to be added soon; 300 new destinations being explored in J&K to attract more tourists, Sonmarg emerging as winter tourism destination, rampant infra dev not advisable here; inaugurates water sports festival
Ganderbal, July 21: The tourism department is working hard to add more and more facilities to Manasbal lake in Ganderbal district of Central Kashmir to attract more tourists to the fast emerging one of the favorite destinations.
Talking to reporters after inaugurating the waters sports festival at Mansabal Lake here, Secretary Tourism, Syed Abid Rashid Shah said that Manasbal Lake will be made more attractive and there will be more facilities to attract more tourists. “The Lake is cleanest one and pristine as well. This has a great potential to attract a large number of tourists,” he said as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO)
He said the lake has a small amusement park besides a water sports facility that is already available. “We will be adding more to the water sports activities so that more tourists come here,” he said, adding that the government has started to explore 300 new tourist destinations to lure more domestic as well as foreign tourists to J&K.
About Sonmarg, Secretary Tourism said that it has emerged as the best tourist destination for winters as well. “Sonmarg is an all-weather destination apart from the fact that Amarnath Pilgrims also visit the cave shrine through this place. However, there can’t be rampant infrastructure development given the fact that Sonmarg is ecologically fragile. “There has to be a planned infrastructure development,” he said.
