NC Leader Imran Shah Accuses PDP of Neglecting Anantnag, Lauds Ongoing Development Under Omar Abdullah

Anantnag, Nov 16::: Senior National Conference leader and District vice President Anantnag, Imran Amin Shah, has accused the PDP of neglecting Anantnag town despite having held significant political influence in Jammu and Kashmir for many years. He claimed that the party used Anantnag merely as a platform for securing benefits through “hollow slogans and promises,” rather than working to restore its historical importance. Shah said the town’s development was sacrificed for “family gains and comforts,” resulting in problems such as clogged drainage systems, traffic congestion, and incomplete projects—issues he attributed to the “incompetence and nepotism” of the party that represented the area for more than a decade.

Addressing a meeting at Naibasti Khanabal Anantnag, Shah praised the current administration led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for implementing comprehensive development plans and adopting a responsive approach to public concerns. He reaffirmed the National Conference’s commitment to its promises.

Imran Shah noted that Naibasti, previously part of the Anantnag constituency, was placed under the newly created Anantnag West segment following recent delimitation. He welcomed the area’s representation by
(Hon’ble MLA west) Adv Abdul Majid Larmi, describing him as capable and people-friendly, and expressed hope that the locality would witness new developmental progress under his leadership.

Expressing deep sorrow over the recent Nowgam incident, in which nine individuals were killed and several others injured, Shah paid tributes to the victims and prayed for the speedy recovery of those hurt.

Imran Shah also voiced concern over the absence of risk allowances for Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel. He urged the government to prioritize extending such benefits to them at par with other security forces, including the CRPF and BSF.
Calling it an “irony” that despite their crucial role in counterterrorism operations, J&K Police personnel are still denied risk allowances, he termed the situation unjust and unwarranted.
Shah demanded immediate allocation of these allowances for all ranks—from SPOs to the DGP—stating that many come from humble backgrounds and deserve additional support during difficult times. He stressed that encouraging and protecting frontline police personnel is our collective responsibility.
