Kulgam, Dec 6: As winter chill sets in and temperature plummets to below the freezing point, the Kulgam district’s lone KPDCL transformer repair workshop is grappling with an overwhelming workload as dozens of damaged power transformers continue to pour in every day.
A senior official at KPDCL told that 150 electric transformers got damaged due to overload in November month in various areas of Kulgam district.
“In November month we have received atleast 150 electric damaged transformers and repaired them on time, the main reason for the damage to DTs is overloading and using crude heating gadgets,” the official said.
“It is a only district where such workshop is operating as the workshop has four sub-divisions DH Pora, Yaripora, Qazigund and Kulgam”, he added.
“Issuing an appeal, the official asked the consumers to use electricity judiciously so that transformers are protected from damage and subsequent power outages.”
