Devsar (Kulgam), Nov 10: In a bid to enhance disaster preparedness and awareness among the community, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Kulgam organised an awareness camp at Darsgah Tajweed Qur’an, Mondhole area of Devsar belt in south kashmiri’s Kulgam district on Sunday.
The SDRF team was headed by Mohd Abass Eatoo, and officials Mr Rayees Ahmad ans Mr Ashaq Din.
During the camp the students, villagers were educated on various methods of manmade and natural disasters, like Natural disasters (floods, earthquakes, landslides, fire safety and prevention, First aid and emergency response, Search and rescue operations.
In his address, the SDRF Team incharge Mohd Abbas emphasized the need for proactive measures in disaster risk management and the critical role of education in building resilient communities.
He also shed light on various aspects of disaster risk and management, with a special focus on the vulnerability to both natural and man-made disasters. He highlighted the significance of preemptive measures, early warning systems, and community-level readiness to minimize damage and loss of life during disasters.
The local community expressed gratitude for the informative camp and urged SDRF to conduct more such events in the future.
