Kulgam, Oct 23: Government Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Gudder area of DH Pora belt in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district lacks basic health care facilities and staff shortage.
“We are facing problems as there is no doctor available in the Health Centre. Now, everybody here prefers to visit district hospital Kulgam in wake of the lack of facilities and staff,” said Auqaf President.
“I am unable to figure out how several paramedics and a doctor are drawing salary from this centre despite managing to attach themselves to different health centers,” he said. “The authorities are doing nothing to make them accountable.” he alleged, adding pregnant women suffer the most as they have no option but to travel to district hospital for minor ailments.
“Hospital in no way serves the patients and if the same situation persists, the government should lock it down, adding they are mulling to come out on roads and stage protests against Government apathy”, another local said.
Residents said they have repeatedly raised these issues with higher authorities, yet no action has been taken. They appealed the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Amir Khan to look into the matter so that people can breath a sigh of relief.
Dr Saba Wani Incharge Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kulgam, when contacted told that he will take up the matter with concerned BMO and issue will be sorted out soon.
