Says list of people obstruction progress being prepared, no one will be spared
Srinagar, Nov: Minister for Agriculture Production, RDD Panchayat Raj, Cooperative, and Election, Javid Ahmed Dar on Saturday said that those who hinder the development of Asia’s Second Largest Fruit Mandi in Sopore will be dealt strictly, saying that a list is being prepared and no one will be spared.
Minister, during a visit to Mandi, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the government is committed to addressing developmental gaps and supporting the region’s agricultural businesses, emphasized the critical role of the fruit industry in Kashmir’s economy.
“This Mandi represents the entire valley, not just north Kashmir,” the Minister stated. “Every person involved in the fruit business significantly contributes to the economy of Jammu and Kashmir.”
Acknowledging that current progress falls short, he pledged improvement. “We are committed to our promises. Despite challenges, we will deliver on our goals.”
He also assured that any attempts to hinder the Mandi’s development would face strict repercussions. “We are preparing a list, and no one—whether government officials or any other — will be spared. Past misuse of funds will be investigated thoroughly,” he added.
Supporting the local business community’s demands, he advised the president Fruit Mandi to avoid political agendas, emphasizing that the Mandi should remain focused as a commercial hub only.
Addressing the longstanding Mazbug bridge issue, Dar criticized the lack of accountability surrounding the delayed project. “The foundation stone was laid decades ago, yet there has been no progress,” he said, assuring that his tenure will see the bridge’s completion.
He also directed the Area Marketing Officer (AMO) to prioritize Mandi development and maintain transparency in all operations.
