Srinagar, Apr 2: Thousands of devotees on Thursday thronged the revered shrine of Sakhi Zainuddin Wali (RA) at Aishmuqam in Pahalgam to take part in the traditional Zool Festival (Festival of Lights), held on the eve of the annual Urs.
Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, joined the spiritual gathering and paid obeisance at the shrine, praying for peace and prosperity.
The Zool Festival, a centuries-old tradition, is observed with religious fervour and devotion, drawing large numbers of devotees each year. Addressing the gathering, Andrabi said that light symbolises purity and devotion, which dispels the darkness of the soul, and emphasized the need to preserve such meaningful traditions with dignity.
She also extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Urs Mubarak.
Several officials and social activists, including SDPO Pahalgam Farooq Ahmad, Executive Magistrate Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin, Administrator Ashiq Ahmad, Executive Engineer Qazi Mushtaq, AEEs Syed Murtaza and Aamir Ahmad, and others were present on the occasion.
