Kulgam, Sep 12: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Kulgam police on Thursday claimed to have arrested six drug peddlers in the district.
A police spokesman said “on the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kulgam Sahil Sarangal multiple checkpoints have been established at different locations in the district and during checking six drug peddlers identified as: 1. Aijaz Ahmad Magray S/O Manzoor Ahmad Magray R/O Check Badwani 2.Aaqib Ahmad Sheikh S/O Mohd Yaqoob Sheikh R/O Chirhama, 3.Kashmir Singh S/O Tara Chand R/O Jungle Gali Udhampur,4. Mubarak Ahmad Rather S/O Mohd Yousuf Rather R/O Ashmuji, 5.Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat S/O Abdul Rashid Bhat R/O Bhan, Kulgam and, 6. Wakeel Ahmad Wagay S/O Reyaz Ahmad Wagay R/O Redwani Bala were arrested and from their possession, officers present were able to recover 10.7 Kgs of Poppy Straw and 110 grams of Charas like contraband substances was recovered”, he said.
“Two vehicles bearing registration number JK21G-6696 (Truck) and JK03J-8132 (Auto) involved in commission of crime also have been seized”, he added.
“A case vide FIR No. 136 &137/2024 at Police Station Kulgam, cases vide FIR No. 218 & 219/2024 at Police Station Qazigund and case vide FIR No. 84/2024 at Police Station Qaimoh under relevant sections of law stands registered and investigation has been taken up in all cases”, he added.
