
Kulgam, July 6: To pay tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), and his companions for their supreme sacrifice, Youm-e-Ashura was observed with reverence and religious fervour at Sahoo Sachan area of Devsar belt in south kashmiri’s Kulgam district on Sunday.
Clad in black attire, carrying black banners, mourners paid respect to Imam Husain (AS) and his companions while taking out huge mourning procession in the area.
Mourners were seen carrying banners and raising slogans in praise of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions who sacrificed their lives at Karbala, some 1400 years ago.

Several volunteer groups had set up camps in the area of procession where cold beverages were being served to the mourners.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam Athar Amir Khan participated in the Ashura procession, locals warmly hailed the efforts of district administration and Kulgam police, who not only attended the procession but also extended assistance to the grieving attendees.
An official from district administration told Voice of India that “prior to the event, they have ensured all necessary arrangements were meticulously put in place. Adequate medical facilities, regular water and power supply to the areas, and foolproof security measures were made to ensure smooth conduct of the procession”,
ACR, Tehsildar Devsar, Pahloo, DYSP DAR, AEE R&B, SHO Devsar were also and others were present on the occasion.
