Will act tough against illegal miners; illegal mining will not be allowed at any cost, says DMO Kulgam; Asks legal miners to desist from illegal mining during night hours or to face action
Kulgam, May 23: As many as twenty vehicles including two JCB machines involved in illegal mining were seized in south kashmiri’s Kulgam district from last couple of days.
An official told that a team of officials from the Geology and Mining Department Kulgam led by District Mineral Officer (DMO) Murtaza Bashir laid a major crackdown with the assistance of Kulgam police at several locations of the district.
He said during the raids 20 vehicles including, 2 JCB machines, 10 Tractors, 07 Tippers and 1 seive tractor were found engaged in illegal mining and transportation of raw materials.
He said the vechicles seized during the raids have been handed over to police.
Meanwhile, District Mineral Officer (DMO) Kulgam told Kashmir Upfront that they will act tough against illegal miners.“Only mining through legal process will be allowed, illegal mining will not be allowed,” he said, adding they raid whenever they receive reports about illegal mining.
He also warned the legal miners for involving illegal mining during night hours, asked them to desist from such doings or to face action.
