Kulgam, Dec 29: District Police Kulgam under the close supervision of SSP Kulgam is making every effort to hunt down the drug peddlers in the district and to put them behind the bars.
In this regard, Police party of Police station Qazigund during Patrolling intercepted two suspicious persons (Ravinder Singh S/O Gurmekh Singh & Satean Singh S/O Karnal Singh both residents of Jagrawan Ludhiana, Punjab) carrying nylon bags. After noticing police party, they tried to flee from the spot. They was chased and apprehended tactfully. After checking officers present were able to recover 11Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance.
Moreover, in an another incident, police party headed by IC Police post Mirbazar established a special Naka at Alstop and during checking one vehicle (auto load carrier) bearing Registration No JK18B-4430with two persons namely; Aarif Ahmad Malla S/O Azimu din Malla R/O Domidulla Tujan, Anantnag & Jasweer Singh S/O Bagh Singh R/O Pandoola Jalandar, Punjab on board was intercepted. After checking, officers present were able to recover 25 gramsof Heroin like contraband substance from their possession.
Regarding the incidents, Case with FIR No. 277/2023 U/S 8/15 of NDPS Act and Case with FIR No. 278/2023 U/S 8/21, 29 of NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Qazigund and investigation is in progress in both the cases.
