Women among Two nomad dies after tree falls on tent due to gusty winds in upper reaches of Kulgam

DC visits the site to assess the situation

Kund (Kulgam) Aug 6: A tragic incident occurred in the Upper reaches of Kund belt of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday evening after strong gusty winds caused a tree to fall on a makeshift tent, resulting in two fatality and an injury.

An official told that the incident occurred in the upper reaches of Kund in Kulgam when an alpine tree and boulder fell on their makeshift tent due to gusty winds.
“In the incident two members of nomadic family died on the spot”, he said.

The deceased has been Identified as Mohd Shafi Boker, and his daughter-in-law Reshma Begum residents of Reasi and were currently putting up in a tent in the Kund forests.

Meanwhile, Authorities have taken cognizance of the incident.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam Athar Amir Khan speaking to reporters after visited the site, said “Today early morning we got this information about the tragic incident occurred at Upper reaches of Kund belt a joint team of police, revenue and SDRF immediately rushed to the spot and started a rescue operation, unfortunately two persons have lost their lives and two others sustained injuries who havs been shifted to nearby hospital.
