Anantnag, August 30:: National Conference (NC) leader and Vice District President Anantnag, conducted a visit to the flash flood-affected areas of Dangerpora, Arampora, Bangidara, and Anzullah in the Central Anantnag segment, calling for immediate assessment and relief measures for affected families and business owners.

Imran Shah expressing deep concern over the devastation caused by the recent floods, the NC leader emphasized the urgent need for government intervention to support those who have suffered significant losses.

Shah during his visit, also criticized the unplanned construction of road dividers from Mehandi Kadal to Dangerpora. He stated that the poorly designed infrastructure had obstructed the movement of fire service engines and other emergency vehicles during the disaster, severely hindering timely rescue operations.

“The unscientific placement of dividers has severely hampered relief efforts. In critical times like these, accessibility is paramount,” he said.

Imran Shah further highlighted that outdated flood monitoring devices—or gauge—installed at Ashajipora, Ganjiwara, and Mehandi Kadal contributed to the crisis. According to him, these obsolete gauges created an inaccurate assessment of water levels, leading to unexpected and severe flooding in the town. He strongly urged the administration to immediately replace the old flood gauges with modern equipment.

In addition to relief and flood mitigation, the leader called for better regulation of vehicular traffic in the affected areas, citing ongoing traffic congestion that continues to cause daily hardships for local residents.
