Qazigund, Feb 23: Unidentified burglars made vain attempt into branches of Jammu & Kashmir Bank and a local Grameen Bank located at Vessu area of Qazigund belt on Monday.
According to official sources, the unidentified burglars managed to gain entry into both bank premises and allegedly stole the Digital Video Recorder (DVR) units of the CCTV surveillance systems. However, no cash or valuables were reported stolen from either branch.
Police teams including SDPO Qazigund, SHO Qazigund under the supervision of Addl. SP Highway (Qazigund) rushed to the spot soon after the incident came to light. Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) experts were also called in to collect evidence and examine the crime scene.
Officials believe the removal of DVRs was likely an attempt to destroy crucial surveillance footage.
A case has been registered, and an investigation has been initiated. Authorities are scanning nearby CCTV cameras and gathering technical inputs to identify and trace the culprits.
