Kulgam, Mar 31: Residents of over a dozen villages Devsar belt of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district have voiced strong resentment against the erratic and prolonged power outages from the Devsar–Sopat feeder, saying the crisis has severely affected daily life.

Locals said that electricity supply snapped around 3:00 AM and was restored only at about 2:00 PM. However, the restoration proved short-lived as power lasted barely ten minutes before going off again, followed by repeated disruptions throughout the day.

The frequent outages have left thousands of consumers frustrated, who alleged that despite paying nearly Rs 2,000 per month in electricity charges, they are not receiving adequate and reliable service.

Residents said the irregular supply has disrupted household chores, hit business activities, and caused inconvenience to students preparing for exams, who are struggling to continue their studies amid the ongoing crisis.

Appealing for immediate intervention, the affected population urged the authorities to take urgent measures to ensure a stable and uninterrupted power supply, stressing that the issue needs to be addressed on a priority basis.
