Kulgam, Apr 8: Acting tough against violations of drug control norms, police in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district conducted inspections in the Devsar area and sealed two medical shops for irregularities related to scheduled/NRX drugs.
Officials said the inspections were carried out by police teams from Police Station Devsar in coordination with the Drug Controller.
During the drive, two shops were found violating mandatory norms regarding maintenance of records of NRX drugs, raising concerns over possible misuse and diversion.
The sealed establishments include Irfan Medical Store and Alshafa Medical Store. Both were found involved in non-maintenance of mandatory records, violating provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
Police also took action against two other medical shops for non-compliance with CCTV installation norms, and temporarily seized the establishments.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Kulgam, Anayat Ali Choudhary (IPS), said that police have adopted a zero-tolerance policy against drug-related violations and warned of strict legal action against defaulters.
He urged all medical shop owners to strictly adhere to legal provisions, maintain proper records of medicines and ensure installation of CCTV systems, failing which stringent action will follow.
Police reiterated their commitment to strict enforcement of laws to prevent misuse of pharmaceutical substances and ensure accountability in the sale and distribution of medicines.
