Snowfall, rain brings temperature drop in Kashmir, authorities close several roads

Srinagar: Fresh snowfall in the higher areas of Kashmir and rain in the plains on Sunday led to a drop in temperatures across the valley, officials said.

Snowfall was reported in places like Gurez valley, Zojila Pass, and the Mughal Road area. At the same time, light to moderate rain fell in the plains during the morning hours.

The weather change brought down daytime temperatures by a few degrees. The Meteorological Department said the weather is expected to improve later in the day.

Due to snow, several important roads, including the Srinagar–Kargil road, Mughal Road, and Bandipora–Gurez road, have been closed for traffic.

Officials advised people to remain cautious as conditions remain cold and unstable in higher reaches.
