Anantnag, Apr 19: A young man from Qazigund area lost his life after sustaining injuries in a tragic accident at the Fruit and Vegetable Mandi in Ashajipora, triggering allegations of medical negligence and demands for a probe.
The deceased has been identified as Bilal Ahmad Mir, son of Late Ab. Rehman Mir, a resident of Yarhole Baihama in Qazigund.
According to reports, Bilal was critically injured in an accident near Ashajipora and was immediately shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for treatment.
Family members alleged that despite his critical condition, there was a lack of timely medical attention at the hospital.
They claimed that essential medical staff were not available when needed, which, according to them, worsened his condition and ultimately led to his death.
“He was struggling, but there was no prompt response. Had proper care been provided on time, he might have survived,” a family member alleged, demanding strict action against those responsible.
The grieving family has called for a fair and transparent investigation into the incident, urging authorities to examine the role of the hospital administration and ensure accountability.
Meanwhile, Medical Superintendent (MS) GMC Anantnag, Dr Arshad Hassan Siddiqie, said that the matter will be thoroughly investigated and assured that anyone found guilty will face strict action.
The incident has also sparked concern among locals, who raised questions over emergency healthcare services at the hospital and appealed to authorities to take corrective measures.
