
Qazigund, Feb 12: After decades, the authorities in Roads and Building (R&B) department have started the construction work of a vital bridge over the nallah Sandran in Qazigund belt that will connect Damjan to Larkipora has started raising hopes of villagers who have to travel several kilometres in times of emergency.
According to locals residents, the bridge is vital as it would connect numerous villages with the Larkipora in Anantnag district of south kashmir.
“Completion of the bridge would shorten the distance from NH44 Damjan to Larkipora in Anantnag benefiting the local community,” they said.
“Thanks to authorities for constructing this bridge, we will be able to arrive at our schools on time. On our approach to school, we encounter numerous traffic bottlenecks. However, once this bridge is built, our problem will be solved. The government has taken a positive move,” a local Muneeb said.
Executive Engineer (Xen) R&B Division Qazigund, Khalid Manzoor told that “The estimated cost of this bridge is Rs 10.5 crore and with the help of this bridge, people will have a lot of benefits in their daily travel”.
“Construction work on the bridge is expected to be completed within two years” he said.
