
Kulgam, Oct 6: The District election officer (DEO) Kulgam, Athar Amir Khan, said all arrangements are in place for the counting of votes for three Assembly constituencies
(AC’s) at counting centres at Govt Degree College Kulgam.
While speaking to media, Khan said “the EVMs are currently kept under a three-layer security cordon in strong rooms at GDC Kulgam, following the completion of the voting process on Sep 18.
“Counting staff, like counting agents, supervisors, micro observars, statics teams have already been designated and trained for counting of votes” he said.
He said Procedures of the counting, including handling of VVPATs, Regular Postal ballot and the process of the Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS) are also in place as per the protocol.
He also said that at the counting centre’s all arrangements are also in place for candidates, counting agents, election agents and media centre were also setup for media persons.
“We are very hopeful that counting would be conducted in peaceful manner on October 8”, he said.
