Process of replacing electric poles and wires would be done once the RDSS scheme is implemented in the district, says Exen KPDCL
Kulgam, Feb 5: The residents of (Laway Mohalla) Manzgam area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district said that are living under constant fear due to low-lying electric wires tied with decaying electric poles.
They said that these wires pose a grave threat to the locals and other pedestrians.
“We have informed the concerned Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) officials many a time but no action has been taken so far”, residents said.
“The wooden poles that have decayed are posing a grave threat to the lives of people as well as to the properties in their area,” they added.
“Electric wires were broken at various places in the area, and due to which we are suffering badly during these cold days of February. At many places the live electric wires were joined temporarily and the recent snowfall has also damaged these lines, adding the department concerned has failed to replace these wires despite several requests, but the hollow promises from the officials of KPDCL has disappointed us, ” said Shahid Ul Islam another local resident.
Meanwhile, the residents have sought immediate intervention of Deputy Commissioner Kulgam to resolve the issue on a fast-track basis.
When contacted, Executive Engineer KPDCL, Kulgam, Ab Hamid Akhoon said that issue would be resolved under RDSS (Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme).
“Process of replacing electric poles and wires would be done once the said scheme is implemented here” he said.
