Anantnag, Apr 9: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic Kashmir today conducted his maiden visit to South Kashmir after assuming charge, reviewing traffic regulation and management across key areas.

The DIG visited Qazigund/Kulgam, Anantnag and Pulwama districts to assess the ground situation.

He was accompanied by SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, besides concerned DySPs and District Traffic Inspectors.

During the visit, the officer inspected the Qazigund–Banihal (Navyug) Tunnel and various naka points established along the Srinagar–Jammu National Highway (NH-44). He took stock of deployment, functioning and effectiveness of traffic arrangements at different locations.

On the occasion, the DIG issued on-the-spot directions to officers and officials, stressing strict enforcement of traffic rules, better coordination and ensuring smooth and hassle-free movement of vehicles for the public.

He reiterated the need for improved traffic management and proactive measures to streamline vehicular movement on busy highway stretches.
