Kulgam, Sep 28: Kulgam Police continuing it’s holistic actions drug menace carried out destruction of seized Norcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances and destroyed huge quantity of seized drugs in Kulgam district under the directions of hon’ble session court Kulgam.
An official told that committee was constituted for the purpose, headed by the Chief Judicial Magistrate Kulgam (Chairman) and comprising the Executive Magistrate 1st Class Kulgam, Senior Prosecuting Officer Kulgam, DySP Headquarters Kulgam, and DySP DAR Kulgam as its members. The presence of both judicial and executive authorities ensured strict adherence to legal protocols and transparency in the entire process.
The drugs were seized in multiple NDPS cases registered across different Police Stations including Kulgam, Qaimoh, D.H. Pora, Qazigund, Yaripora, Behibagh, Manzgam, Frisal, Nihama, Kund, and Devsar. The destruction process was carried out strictly in accordance with the provisions of the NDPS Act and Rules, 2022, ensuring all legal formalities were followed.
The substances destroyed included 3 kg 8 g of charas, 1192 kg 267 g of poppy straw, 69 kg 476 g of ganja, 158 g of brown sugar, and 22 bottles of codeine, Beer 40 bottles and tablets: 72 (4 strips)
The destruction exercise was carried out at Kashmir Health Care System, IGC Lassipora, under the direct supervision of the committee, with all necessary safety precautions and legal formalities duly observed.
This action reaffirms firm commitment of Kulgam Police in eliminating the narcotics menace and ensuring that seized substances are disposed off in a transparent and lawful manner.
