Srinagar Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani Friday condemned the Botapathri attack, saying that there is a need for a stronger security grid besides Statehood restoration.
Wani, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that these incidents should not happen, stating that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have endured violence for over three decades and innocent lives continue to be lost.
“Let better sense prevail across both sides, and let the neighbouring country not indulge much in the matters,” he stated. “The words fall short to condemn such acts; these are taking lives of humanity and impacting peace badly.”
While commending the people of Jammu and Kashmir for supporting the democratic process after a prolonged period, which he believes, has opened the door to democratic governance and hopes for a more peaceful future, Nasir said that there is a need to review the security grid. Needs more to be strengthened, which is why they often keep on saying to restore the Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, which is more important as dual control-based J&K can’t run, with LG looking after the security grid and chief minister the rest.”
He noted that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has experience of governing Jammu and Kashmir, as he had been the chief minister earlier as well, besides head of the unified command. “We wish early statehood restoration and a unified command to tackle the situation.”
Responding to Sajad Lone’s recent tweet, the Advisor said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had travelled to New Delhi to meet the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and other officials. “They had assured to support the state government and support the developmental aspects besides statehood restoration, and we are hopeful of it being done so early”, adding that there is a need for constitutional guarantees to restore the collective mindset of the people.
On Engineer Rashid’s protest in Srinagar regarding Darbar Move, he said that, “Let him be answerable to his own responsibilities and roles. Let him work on ground and work for the people’s miseries. Let him focus on North Kashmir. We are familiar with his roles before and after elections.
