Koshur Dude, a Kashmir based online portal, has reported on the recent controversy surrounding the alleged death of a popular Kashmiri Twitter user, Toiba Javaid. According to the report, the K-Twitter community was hit by a wave of shock and disbelief after news of Toiba’s sudden demise spread on the platform. Several Twitter accounts shared the news, leaving the community in mourning.
Toiba Javaid was known for her active participation in discussions on cricket and other topics of interest to the Kashmiri community on Twitter. However, after her alleged death was reported, her real account was reported by many users and subsequently deactivated.
While some on K-Twitter claim that Toiba’s death was a hoax, others believe it to be true. This has led to a virtual war between her followers on the platform, with some demanding an FIR against Twitter users for spreading fake news.
Koshur Dude reached out to locals in Dangerpora Sopore, where Toiba was believed to be from, to verify the news. According to the locals, no such incident had occurred there. A tweet related to a girl named Toiba from Dangerpora Sopore had gone viral in recent days, claiming that she was suffering from cancer and had recently passed away. However, the locals denied any knowledge of the incident.
Despite the confusion surrounding the alleged death of Toiba Javaid, Some people even donated to NGOs as sadaqaye jariya for her. “Already ordered a sewing machine for a family didn’t knew a death prank would be a zariya for this family but if someone wants their donation back, please DM,” tweeted a member from the NGO.
As of now, the K-Twitter community is divided over whether the news of Toiba Javaid’s death was true or just a prank. Some are demanding an FIR against the Twitter users who peddled the fake news. The decision is still pending, and the K-Twitter community is awaiting a verdict.
The controversy is taking new turn now as online battle has started between K-Facebook and K-Twitter. Kashmiri facebook users are now ‘trolling’ Kashmiri Twitter users for all this.
