Food Safety team conducts market checking in Kulgam to ensure consumer safety

11 FBO's penalized for contravening food safety regulations

Kulgam, Apr 10: In an endeavor to uphold consumer safety and quality standards of food products, the Food Safety Department in Kulgam has intensify market checking operations in various areas of Kulgam district.

An official told that “Today market checking efforts were intensified in the Nehama, Manzgam, and Aharabal areas of district Kulgam, led by the Intelligence cum Legal Cell of the Kashmir Division in collaboration with the Food Safety team of district Kulgam. During the inspection, 11 Food Business Operators (FBOs) were found to be in violation of Section 69 of the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA), 2006, which pertains to penalties for contravening food safety regulations”, he said.

“Additionally, 5 samples were collected for further analysis, likely to verify compliance with safety standards. This operation reflects a concerted effort to ensure food safety and regulatory adherence in the region”, he added.
