A 12-year-old girl travelling with her family in the AC compartment of an express train was allegedly raped by another passenger in the toilet in the early hours of Thursday
The incident comes close on the heels of a rape attempt on a 25-year-old woman on board an MMTS train in Hyderabad on March 22. The woman had jumped out of the moving train to save herself and luckily survived the fall
In the latest case, the girl’s family, who hail from Odisha, first registered their grievance with the railway helpline and later lodged a complaint with the Govt Railway Police (GRP) after the train arrived at Secunderabad station on Thursday. Sources said that the 22-year-old accused, a native of Bihar, was detained immediately on the train’s arrival, but police are yet to confirm it
