(Devsar), Kulgam Sep 16: The campaigning for the Devsar assembly seat came to an end on Monday evening with all the contesting candidates making a last attempt to woo the voters. The constituency will go to polls on Wednesday in the first phase of polls.

Contesting candidates held series of programmes on the last day of the campaigning including road shows in various parts of the constituency.

An official told that elaborate security arrangements have been made for the polls to ensure that security arrangements are foolproof,” he said.

“127 Polling Stations have been set up across the constituency, with 112381 voters are enrolled including 56199 Male, 56175 female and 7 transgender, adding the voting will take place from 7.00 am to 6.00 pm and before that there will be a mock poll in the Polling Stations in presence of the polling agents. Also, the voting will continue even after 6.00 pm, if the voter’s queue is still there in the Polling Station premises to exercise their right to vote”, he said.

The high-stakes contest in Devsar constituency has attracted a diverse array of 9 candidates from various political parties and independent groups. Among the prominent contenders are Mohd Sartaj Madni from PDP, Peerzada Feroze Shah from National Conference, Mohd Amin Bhat from DPAP, Amanullah Mantoo from Congress, Reyaz Ahmad Bhat from Apni party, Dr Suhail Ahmad Bhat from Awami Itihad party, Sheikh Fida Hussain from Aam Aadmi Party, Nazir Ahmad Bhat (independent) and Dr. Rouf Naik as independent.
