Devsar (Kulgam) Nov 29: Hundreds attended the anti-drug awareness program which was organised by social activist Zulfkar Razatullah Hussain at Middle School Banghall area of Devsar in south kashmiri’s Kulgam district on Saturday.
The event witnessed the presence of several key officials, including Addl. Superintendent of Police (ASP) NHW Qazigund Mumtaz Ali Bhatti, SHO Devsar Masood-Ul-Hassan, ZEO Devsar Zafar Bhat, Principal HSS Vessu Shoaib Khatana, Headmaster Middle School Banghall Ab. Rashid Sheikh, and other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, speakers threw light about the menace of drugs, its sources, causes, consequences and role of every member of the society for its total eradication. The participants were briefed to remain away from drugs and involve themselves in sports activities as it is one of the preventive measures to save themselves from drug abuse.
Speaking to the reporters, Zulfkar Razatullah said, “This was the 21st out of 40 anti-drug awareness programmes he has planned for this year. “Even if only one person attends, I will sit and counsel them about the drug abuse. This mission is from my heart. I will not stop until our district is drug-free,” he declared boldly.
He added that he has been conducting similar campaigns across Anantnag and Kulgam, distributing sports kits to youth to help them channel their energy in healthier directions.
“Even mothers are stepping forward in these programmes, recognising their crucial role in guiding children away from harmful influences”, he added.
He appealed to parents to become friends with their children, stay aware of their daily activities, and protect them from falling prey to drug addiction.
